Journey of One Hundred Novels
So I'm late to the game on starting my reading this year, at least personal readings and not requireds for class. The goal is 100 books before New Years and so far I'm on book 1 (I'm reallyyyy late). I've read stories on apps but I feel like they don't really count for some reason (totally a personal preference/opinion). So, my goal is paperback and kindle books only, not third-party apps from Facebook (hah). The kindle books will be highly limited, because I can't stare at screens very long anymore. So, here we go!
For my first book, I had originally chose Jojo Moyes's The Last Letter From Your Lover, but I had purchased it on kindle at first, and after about halfway through the first chapter, my head was hurting and shakes started to set in. So, I returned the kindle version, and on mine and D's date this past weekend, bought the paperback. However, since I hadn't gotten the paperback yet, I went with another novel of Moyes's.
Me Before You.
I bought the box set of the trilogy immediately after finding out it was originally a novel. How I didn't know, I will never understand! Anyways, I started reading it almost right away once it arrived, but I've not finished it yet, mainly because I'm wanting to savor it and I keep making comparisons between the novel and the movie. Spoiler: the novel is better, no shade to Emilia Clarke or Sam Clafin. I love the movie, it's one of my favorites, but reading the birth of it is so much better.
I'm probably going to end up making a post or two about my thoughts regarding the book as compared to the movie, which has me extremely excited. I've been keeping notes in my phone every time something strikes my attention--like when Mrs. Traynor's viewpoint is given?! God, I could write a 20 page essay just on that chapter and how the movie did an injustice not showing that.
Anyways, this is my starting point for the journey of one hundred novels. I leave you with one of my favorite quotes so far from the novel, the moment I knew Lou and Will were meant to be.
